In this article we will review The Magician’s Nephew by Clive Lewis.
Book Plot
“The Magician’s Nephew” is a novel by C.S. Lewis and is the sixth book in the “Chronicles of Narnia” series. It is a prequel to the series and tells the story of two children, Digory and Polly, who are transported to different worlds by magic rings created by Digory’s uncle, Andrew Ketterley. They eventually find themselves in a world called Charn, where they awaken an evil sorceress named Jadis. They flee from Charn and end up in a world called Narnia, which is being created by the great lion Aslan. They witness the creation of Narnia and are tasked with protecting it from Jadis, who follows them into the new world. The novel explores themes of temptation, original sin, and the nature of evil.

The Magician’s Nephew Review
Although I’m not a huge fan of fantasy, I’ve always been interested in reading the Chronicles of Narnia, especially after seeing the movies. The Magician’s Nephew, while the sixth book published, is actually the first in the series chronologically. C.S. Lewis himself recommended starting with this book, even though it was written after The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It introduces readers to Narnia, Aslan the Lion, Jadis who becomes the White Witch, and Digory who becomes Professor Kirke. The story explains the origins of Narnia, the lamp post, and the wardrobe that leads to the magical world. The book sets a good pace for the rest of the series and I’m excited to continue reading the rest in order.
